Resilience was the subject of a large-scale study published recently. Findings were that the higher people scored on the resilience scale the less likely challenges were to derail them. Resilience provided a moderating effect; facing similar trials resilient people were significantly less negatively impacted.
The author of the study said she believes resilience can be acquired, even late in life, that unlike some concepts—where you either have it or you don’t, everyone has the capacity for resilience.
