We are entering the autumnal equinox when the days start to get shorter than the nights. The word equinox comes from the Latin words for “equal night.” The fall and spring equinoxes are the only days of the year in which the Sun crosses the celestial equator.
I am a morning person. I love getting up as the sun is rising and my energy returns. During the summer months the sun rises and the birds sing too early even for me. Now as the autumn equinox is approaching—I can feel a return to balance.
It is the summer’s great last heat,
It is the fall’s first chill: They meet.

This summer has been so dry that I welcome the autumn rains to nourish my soul as well as the earth. I feel the changes inside me as I move from my outer focus to an inner more reflective one. I go indoors to read and write, watch movies and play with my model trains.
I welcome the shift that each season brings. What are the changes you notice within yourself and your activities with the arrival of autumn?
